Booked on current projects

I build and look after web products people use every day.

Senior full-stack developer from Czechia. PHP 8, Laravel, Nette, Vue 2/3, Nuxt 2/3 and Tailwind CSS — a Figma file and an empty repository at one end, a fast, maintained site at the other.

Sites and apps that are live right now

Every screenshot below links to the running site. On most of them I was the person turning the design into frontend code — and on several, the one keeping the backend behind it alive.

Frontend implementation from Figma

Community portal for aquarists — listings, magazine and inspiration. I built the complete pixel-perfect frontend in Nuxt 3 and Vue 3 against a REST API, and help maintain the Nette and MySQL backend behind it.

Platform takeover · frontend & backend

Carpet and flooring e-commerce platform. I led the handover from the previous external supplier, then kept both ends running: Nuxt 2 frontend, Laravel backend, full-text search on Laravel Scout and Elasticsearch, XML feed import/export, Erste Bank payments, a loyalty club with automatic discounts and Sentry error tracking.

Homepage of pilulka.cz — a Czech online pharmacy Pilulka.cz

pilulka.cz (opens in a new window)

Back-office maintenance & new features

One of the largest Czech online pharmacies. I developed and maintained the internal BackOffice that runs the shop: supplier XML product feeds, order and customer management, and API links to delivery companies, the warehouse system and internal microservices. The storefront shown here is the public face of what it drives.

Corporate site for a precast concrete manufacturer — services, reference projects and careers. Built from Figma into Tailwind CSS; the company now trades as Goldbeck, so the live site carries their branding on the frontend I implemented.

Homepage of bluegrassats.com — an applicant tracking system for truck driver recruiting TruckersReport.com

bluegrassats.com (opens in a new window)

Admin development · Laravel + Vue 2

Applicant tracking system for truck-driver recruiting in the US. I worked on the administration side in Laravel and Vue 2, plus the Driver App survey, XML feed processing, web scraping and the internal jobs back office. The admin itself sits behind a login.

  • Vue 2
  • PHP 8

Not everything has a public address. The internal Jobs Backoffice at TruckersReport, the Bifler.cz e-learning platform and a decade of WordPress sites and custom plugins sit behind logins or have since been rebuilt — happy to walk through them on a call.

About

Hello, I'm Ján

Ján Michalička

I live in Šumice in the Zlín region and work remotely for agencies and product teams in Czechia and abroad. Most weeks that means a Figma file or an inherited repository on one side, and a site that renders correctly on every screen on the other.

I'm equally at home in a Laravel controller, a Nette model and a Nuxt page, which is the useful part: one person can carry a feature from the database schema to the last pixel without a handover in the middle. A good share of my work has been taking over code somebody else wrote — reading it, stabilising it, and only then adding to it.

I lean on AI systems for the repetitive end of the job — boilerplate, scaffolding, migrations, the fifth variation of the same form. What that buys is time, and the time goes into the part no tool does for you: understanding the business behind the brief. That is usually where the value sits. A specification describes one solution; a proper look at the problem underneath it often produces a better one.

I work in sprints when a team has them and independently when it doesn't, and I write code expecting that the next person to open the file won't be me.

  • One person, the whole feature — backend, frontend and the glue between them.
  • Pixel-accurate against the design, and still correct at 360 px.
  • Comfortable inheriting a legacy codebase and keeping it in service.
  • Czech, Slovak and English — daily English on calls since my Logica years.
  • AI for the repetitive work, my own time for the business problem behind it.
